Not long ago, my husband and I started drinking water from copper bottles for the added health benefits. One day I looked over at our dogs' bowls and thought: why shouldn't they have the same?

Our dogs are both rescues, and they mean the world to us. Izzy, our 14-year-old German Shepherd, was rescued from a puppy mill in Kentucky. She's a true diva and turns her nose up at everything except her own food and water bowls. Omi, our 14-year-old Pitbull/Shar-Pei mix, was rescued from a dog fighting ring in Miami. Today he's the family heartthrob, always ready to eat, play and have fun. After everything they've been through, they deserve the very best.

I searched everywhere for a copper bowl made for pets and couldn't find a single one. So we decided to have some made. When the bowls arrived, they were beautiful, and the dogs loved them. Even Izzy approved, which is high praise. That's when it hit me: every pet should have access to this. And that's how Embers Elements was born.

We believe the pets we love deserve the same care we give ourselves. My husband works directly with our artisans and handles all our sourcing. Our copper comes from Rajasthan, and skilled artisans in India handcraft every bowl from pure copper and brass, carrying on a metalworking tradition passed down through generations. Our copper water bowls are never lined and never coated, and every piece is made to last a lifetime, not a season.

We imagine a world where every pet eats and drinks from something made with care: honest materials, real craftsmanship, and nothing to throw away. Because beautiful, everlasting things belong in every home, for every pet, even on the floor! It's a small ritual, repeated every day, and we think it should feel special.

As for me, I grew up in Auckland, New Zealand. I married my husband, who grew up in India, and we made our home together in New Jersey. We have two sons. Our eldest serves in the U.S. Air Force (yes, I'm a proud Air Force mom), and our youngest is still in high school. Embers Elements is a small family business, and every bowl we ship is one we'd happily put down for Izzy and Omi.
